Is it possible to update Focus CMR with Mondeo Firmware?

Hi,

i have a rear view camera module from an Focus (don't know which build), partnumber 8M5J-18K405-AA and want to use it in an Mondeo MK4 FL. After connecting everything i get an picture in my MCA-Plus but no parking lines, nor PDC bars.
I guess firmware is specialised for Focus.

How can i use UCDS to update the firmware of this module, outside the car, on the desk, with the current one from the Mondeo?

THX

I know, but it was not my question. Both modules have identical hardware, so i think cross-update should be possible.
How can update an module outside the car?
What firmware file do i need and where to download?

But I wonder if the software can interact with the software on the other modules

Ford shares some common CAN messages over several vehicles. But of course there are differences!
If i can flash the Focus module, using a Focus MK2 specific update-procedure (if there are any differences), BUT using a Mondeo firmware image, it should behave like the original Mondeo module afterwarts.

I connected the module to power and the CAN lines to MS-CAN pins of UCDS adapter (because the module is placed on this bus on either cars) and make a scan for modules. There it does not show up. Scan fpr DTCs shows it with an error 60 (CAN communication error), which seems ok. But to update it, it must be shown in the modules list (i dont know other methods) but it does‘nt.

Next i tried to simulate ignition CAN message to make it more realstic for the module or the UCDS, but still no difference.

What else could i do to male it show up?
And where can i get the needed Mondeo firmware image for updating?

8M5J-18K405-AA cannot be updated in my opinion ... IDS has not this choice

Maybe you are right, but why not try it? Somehow the software must be initially loaded. Eventually via JTAG or any other interface.

By the way, did anybody know what signal the steeringwheelangle is on Focus MK2? Its connected by one wire to the module and is an separate module on the steeringwheel.

If anyone knows calibration filename für Mondeo or Focus CMR module, please tell me :-)

AFAIK the steering angle is read via a dedicated wire on Focus and via CAN on Mondeo. This means that the hardware is different.

I agree, janel but think this input (it is just a simple port, regardless if it's LIN or PWM) does not imply a different hardware
I guess, the port is simply not used on Mondeo.
Nobody knows the signal Focus is sending here?

I've looked up on ETIS, Mondeo does not have a wiring diagram for the camera (perhaps I need to check S-Max or Galaxy too...), but for Focus there is a single wire between the steering module and the CMR. Again, from memory, I think there is a special steering wheel module for Focus Mk2 - something with blue on it for the camera. Not sure though.
Yes, it looks like they can easily ignore that A/D input on the CAN models, but it is also very likely to have different hardware. See the HCM module, for instance.
On FF2 it can be switched from HID and AFS and viceversa, on Mondeo there are different versions - even the PCB is different.
